To all Finnish Soft Ball Cricket players, both new and old,
Cricket Finland is delighted to announce that we are holding our first ever Finnish Ten10 Soft Ball Cricket Championship, "Midsummer-Mania". The soft ball Ten10 tournament will be held during the long midsummer weekend of 21st to 23rd June, when there are no other league matches taking place.
TOURNAMENT LOCATION
The soft ball Ten10 tournament will be held at the new full-sized Käpylä Cricket Ground in Helsinki, on the brand new permanent astro wicket!
TOURNAMENT BASICS
- Soft ball Ten10 format
- Finnish Ten10 Cricket Championship (SM-viikko) Playing Conditions will apply
- 11 players per side, 12 person minimum squad size
- Coloured clothing, like the Finnish Twenty20 Leagues
- Soft ball license required (only €5 per player, which will be refunded for new license holders - the license also entitles you to play in all other CF organized soft ball tournaments in 2019)
- Existing hard ball license holders are already qualified to play
- All matches planned and scored in CricHQ
To suit the available time frame, the event will be limited to 8-12 teams. Group matches will be played on Friday 21st June and/or Saturday 22nd June. Quarter Finals, Semi Finals, and Final will be played on Sunday 23rd June. If, however, there are many more than 12 teams applying for entry, Cricket Finland will consider changing the tournament structure to allow more teams to participate.
TOURNAMENT FEE
As part of the ICC's and FCA's strategy to encourage soft ball cricket integration with the rest of Cricket Finland's activities, the tournament will be heavily subsidized by the FCA. The entry fee for each team will be only €60, however for every new soft ball licence holder in your team, the entry fee will be discounted by €5. So if a team consists of a squad of 12 new soft ball license holders, the entry fee will be fully refunded.
Note: The discount only applies to persons who do not yet own any other type of 2019 license for Cricket Finland events. All persons who currently own a 2019 hard ball or soft ball license are already qualified to play.
PRIZES & PROMOTIONS
The winning team will be awarded with the Finnish Ten10 Soft Ball Cricket Championship trophy, and winners medals. The runners-up, MVP, best bowler, best batsman, and best fielder will also all be awarded prizes. All awards will be presented at the Cricket Finland 20th Anniversary Awards Night on 26th October.
As with all our competitions, Cricket Finland will also promote, advertise and publicize the soft ball tournament through our social media platforms, and showcase the tournament to ICC Europe.
TEAM ENTRY DETAILS
Team entries are welcome from independent soft ball cricket lovers, as well as Cricket Finland member clubs. The available team slots will be given on a first-come-first-served basis. Cricket Finland reserves the right to accept or reject any entry. Cricket Finland also reserves the right to change the schedule and tournament format to suit the amount of entries we receive, or to even cancel the tournament if not enough entries are received. The deadline for entries is Sunday 9th June at 23:59 Finnish time.
If you are not yet a member of any Cricket Finland member club, or do not have a Cricket Finland license, you can still enter a team. Your team members will need to buy soft ball cricket licenses from Suomisport (€5 per license), which will then be discounted from your team's entry fee. Cricket Finland will help you to buy the licenses by associating you with one of your nearby Cricket Finland member clubs.
Clubs may propose to enter more than one team if they wish, however each team shall have a squad size of at least 12 players. Players may only compete for one team in the tournament.
All entries must be submitted by email to lsc@cricketfinland.com, including full name and contact details (email and phone number) for the team representative. If you are entering a team from a club that is a member of Cricket Finland, the entry must be submitted by an authorized member of your club management.
ICC REGULATIONS ON SANCTIONED AND NON-SANCTIONED CRICKET
The ICC has clear rules and regulations for sanctioning all types of cricket, in order to uphold the integrity and reputation of the game as well as the safety of players, spectators, third-parties, and the environment where the sport is played. Cricket Finland is bound to implement these rules and regulations for all forms of cricket played in Finland, and especially when CF members and licensed league players are involved. The minimum sanctioning requirements are:
Organizers of non-CF cricket events in Finland should apply to the FCA to have their event sanctioned. If any event is declared unsanctioned by the FCA it means that any player licensed to play in the Cricket Finland leagues is forbidden to play in the event. This is also stated in the Cricket Finland license terms and conditions that must be accepted when purchasing a license.
