Regulation of Cricket Bats
Dear Cricketing community in Finland,
As we all know, following MCC's widespread changes to the Laws late 2017, Cricket Finland had to make some major updates in the playing conditions for our 2018 season.
Some significant amendments to the Law 5 (The Bat) were made and one of them was regulation of cricket bat size. In the updated CF playing conditions the bat is governed by section 5 and appendix B; the cricket bat's maximum dimension’s are now restricted to 108mm in width, 67mm in depth with 40mm edges.
To enforce this law, panel umpires in Finland will be equipped with a “bat gauge” approved by MCC for verification of legal bats.
During the weekend of May 18th's Div1. SM 40 game, two bats were adjudged illegal before the start of play and hence batsmen were not allowed to play with those bats.
In the below video, it can be seen that the bat is not passing through the bat gauge.
To avoid disappointment, get in touch with our esteemed local bat maker or any formal equipment provider, who can make sure your bats will be legal and ready to play. Or alternatively, contact CF about ordering new bats for your club from our partner Surridge, whose bats all meet the latest MCC regulations.
