Key Facts about Cricket Finland

The present goal for Cricket Finland is to complete the first dedicated grass cricket ground and pavilion in Finland at Kerava. This will empower us to proceed further in nurturing the growth of cricket in Finland and help develop a pathway from schoolyard to outdoor cricket ground for future generations to come.

Cricket is a competitive sport

International Competition

Finland has had a national team since 2000. The Finnish National Team has played in international ICC and bi-lateral tournaments every year since then.

Most recently Finland performed on the international stage at the ICC T20 World Cup qualifier in Netherlands September 2018. Future plans are to prepare for the next T20 World Cup in 2021 with T20I fixtures home & away in 2019 and 2020. Exciting times for the great game indeed!

Domestic Senior Competition

Cricket Finland (CF) runs a widespread summer cricket programme from May to September which in 2019 will comprise Premier Leagues in both T20 and OD (40-over) formats, plus 2 additional divisions in both formats for other teams aiming to get promoted.

CF will also again run the Finnish Ten10 Cricket Championship as an integral part of the national multi-sport event SM-viikko, which will be held again in Vantaa July 4-7th, 2019.

We have a vibrant development programme offering cricket to women and children of all ages, with a format to suit everyone from beginners to cricket afficionados!

An indoor cricket league is played annually from January to April.

Development Programme

The FCA junior programme runs regular coaching to new & active junior players from the age of 8 to 16. The FCA’s school programme introduces cricket to school boys & girls of all ages and offers the chance to participate in regular training.

With support from ICC we have piloted a European Street20 cricket project with which FCA aims to reach greater numbers of potential young players with a simple game that lasts only around 20 minutes.

Women's cricket is also on the up & up again, with more and women coming to this great sport.
