Cricket Finland to host first ever ICC pathway event

ICC 2021 T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Qualifier tournament hosts announced – Finland to host an international pathway event for the first time in its history

The road to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 for 24 European teams has been confirmed, as an expanded regional qualification process for the Men’s T20 World Cup is set to begin in May 2020.

Finland will proudly host the national sides from Germany, Sweden, Guernsey, Luxembourg, Greece, Hungary & Gibraltar from 22 June until 1 July 2020 to play off for a place in the European finals to be played later in 2020.

– Hosting such a prestigious event is a massive honour and achievement for the growing team of dedicated, passionate movers & shakers at Cricket Finland and all involved with Finnish Cricket Community Development, said National Development Director Andrew Armitage.  

– This T20 World Cup sub regional tournament along with the recent news of Finland’s top club side participating in the European Cricket League (ECL) in 2020 represents a whole new level for the Finnish cricket player pathway, with such fantastic opportunities inspiring both club as well as national players to aim for the stars, added Operations Director, Maija Scamans
