National Team trials on August 2

The trials for the Finnish National men’s cricket squad will take place on Sunday August 2nd at Kerava National Cricket Ground, starting at 10 am.

Please note that all qualifying players’ performances will be considered before trial selections are made, including the players in the current national squad. The players selected for the NT trials in August will be notified of their selection by the FCA in early July 2015.

The FCA has selected a 14-man squad for Finland's matches against MCC and Denmark U19 during Finnish Cricket Week, which begins on Friday, June 6.

We've also posted a couple of pictures from a training session in La Manga, Spain. We hope that the time the team has spent training and playing during together the tournament will pay off in later games, particularly during Finnish Cricket Week, even though the results at present weren't what we hoped for.

Manousis scores unbeaten century in Finland's fourth defeat

Finland took only three wickets in the fourth and final game of the Pepsi ICC Europe Division 3 tournament in La Manga, Spain, today. Ekhpelwak Kutchey top-scored for Finland with an unbeaten 37 off 24 balls, but it was too little too late, as Anastasios Manousis had hit the tournament's first century (102* off 61 balls) to take Hellas to a total of 185 for three. Andreas Koutsoufis and Dimitrios Triantafillidis each took three wickets as Finland's reply was restricted to 132 for 8.

Loss against Belgium puts Finland bottom of table

Belgium was Finlands third opponent in the Pepsi ICC Europe Division 3 tournament in La Manga, Spain. Finland's loss meant Belgium is only undefeated team left in the tournament after Israel bowled Spain for 111 and then chased that in 17.5 overs for the loss of three wickets.

Galling loss in second match

Gallingly, Finland's second match in the Pepsi ICC Europe Division 3 Tournament in La Manga, Spain, also ended in disappointment. The Finnish Men's Team lost to Israel despite beginning with two wickets in the first over of their reply, courstesy of Tariq Sarfraz, including a golden duck for Israel's Matthew Hoffman.

Good first game, though Finland lost

Finland lost its opening game of the Pepsi ICC Europe Division 3 Tournament in La Manga, Spain, yesterday. Finland scored 153 for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs, but Spain paced their run-chase well and posted 157 for 6 with five balls to spare.

There are, however, a number of positives to take from the match. For one, Finland's Manoj Achchige scored a fifty (including four fours and three sixes) and was the game's MVP according to the CricHQ scorecard, which you can view here online. Two wickets for captain Amrik Bhatia and two runouts by Zahidullah Kamal also bode well for today's game against Israel.

The final round of selections have been made for the Finnish team to leave for La Manga on Monday, April 28th to take part in a Pepsi ICC Europe Division 3 Tournament. In addition to the selections made earlier, the following players have made the team:

First National Team selections made for Spain

4/3/2014

After an excellent training camp at Kuortane last weekend, a first round of selections have now been made for the Finnish team to leave for La Manga on Monday, April 28th to take part in a Pepsi ICC Europe Division 3 Tournament. In addition to Finland, the countries taking part in the tournament are Belgium, Hellas, Israel and Spain.

The final members of the team will be selected over the next few weeks (i.e. before the end of March).

Congratulations to those chosen now and best of luck to all others fighting hard for the last places on the plane to Spain!
