Entries are now open for the 2019 Cricket Finland SM summer leagues and SM-Viikko!
The summer league season will start on Saturday May 4th and continue until the end of September. The scheduling of matches is only just beginning, but we hope to issue a draft version to all clubs before the end of the year. To assist the FCA with scheduling, and to avoid possible clashes with non-FCA tournaments, we kindly request that you provide brief details of any non-FCA organized tournaments that your club is planning to organize or participate in during the 2019 season.
SM-Viikko will again be held in Vantaa at the Tikkurila Cricket Ground, from 4th to 7th July. We are also calling for preliminary entries for this competition now. We are studying ways to increase the importance of the SM-Viikko competition, and T10 cricket generally, and want to see if there is enough interest to allow us to hold T10 qualification rounds during May/June 2019.
The main details of the SM T20 and SM One-Day (previously SM40) leagues are described in the attached files. There are changes to both competitions, however mostly to the structure of the T20 competition, with a view to 2019 being a pathway to more long-term solid growth in this format. We welcome more team entries in T20 in 2019 from all clubs. We plan to issue the finalized Playing Conditions for each competition in good time before the start of the season.
Entries close at 23.59 (Finnish time) on SUNDAY 25th NOVEMBER, 2018.
If your club is interested in entering one or more teams in any of the competitions, please reply to this message before the above deadline, and complete the below information.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Vantaa Town and the FCA have agreed that ALL cricket related bookings for the use of Tikkurila Cricket Ground in the 2019 season will only be made directly between the FCA and Vantaa Town, and invoices to clubs for use of the ground will be issued by the FCA. Furthermore, priority for use of the ground for cricket purposes will be given to the FCA. Therefore clubs should not attempt to make direct bookings with Vantaa Town, but should instead coordinate their needs with the FCA. The FCA is also currently in discussions with Vantaa Town about improving training facilities at both TCG & Hakunila, so please also do not contact Vantaa Town about this development area – we will advise you of progress in due course.
