Umpiring (& scoring) in Finland

Courses have been held over the past few years and the pool of introductory-level qualified umpires is growing steadily. The standard of umpiring in Finland has also been developing, and neutral umpires are nowadays commonplace in FCA league matches. Some of the Finnish umpires have also already made their presence felt on the international scene over the past years, and since since February 2009 Jari Schabel has been able to deliver the ECB ACO "Introduction to Umpiring Course". Courses have been arranged in Helsinki, Tampere, Turku, and Vaasa.

Another important aspect of organised cricket is scoring, and since 2010 introductory scoring courses have been held in Helsinki, Tampere and Turku.

Please contact Paul Dunn (or Yasir Abdul Quadir) for further information about umpiring and scoring in Finland.

Intoduction to scoring course - Turku

The FCA has arranged various introductory umpiring & scoring courses in Finland over the past few years. In order to both enhance the standard of scoring and also to introduce various new aspects related to powerplays and foot-fault free-hits, official courses were held in Helsinki and Turku, by Sanjeev Kad and Jari Schabel respectively.

The 4-hour course in Turku was well attended by participants from the two local teams, who then were able to apply some of their newly acquired knowledge in the local derby match on the following day.
