1. What's your first cricket memory?
- Playing in the backyard with school mates. It wasn't any serious stuff just playing with a tennis ball and having fun.
2. What's your cricket background before Finland?
- My experience was limited before even though cricket is very big in Sri Lanka. I went to an international school and I didn't really have too many opportunities. I played baseball but I've always had a passion for cricket.
3. How did you start playing in Finland?
- In fact, I had already lived in Finland for maybe three or four years before realising that cricket is played here. I was just browsing the internet and found Stadin Krikettikerho (SKK). The year was 2003.
4. How did you become the captain of Finland?
- At the time there were quite a few changes in the team and younger players were needed. I started as a vice captain and just made an eventual transition.
5. What makes a good captain?
- The key is to be able to handle your players. All of them are different, not only in their playing abilities but in their characteristics as well. You can't approach everyone the same way. It's important to be a role model especially to younger players. Then, of course, knowledge of the game helps. You have to live and die by your decisions like when to bring on a spinner. A good captain contributes to the team in many ways.
6. How do you help the team to prepare, have you got any special routines before a game?
- We have routine warm-ups and a team discussion, I'm trying to get the players to focus. Individual players have their own routines and they can approach the game in any way they see fit.
7. Where do you see Finnish cricket in 10 years time?
- This game has a potential to really take off in this country. It already has developed in leaps and bounces. We are doing the right things with the right people but we need to somehow market cricket better to Finnish people. It shouldn't only be played by expats. SKK already has Team Phoenix, which is for Finns. The indoor version is a perfect way to start.
8. Your first opponent on Friday is Greece. What are your thoughts on their team?
- I think they are a very young side and it's not the same team we played against two years ago at Lord's. We probably haven't seen them play yet, they might be really talented or they might not be. I don't worry too much about the opposition. We have a very good side and we go out to win every game. We just need to believe.
